ORANGEVILLE, ON – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, was pleased to recognize two area photographers who won big at the recent Professional Photographers of Ontario Award banquet held last week at the Crown Plaza, in Ottawa.

Jose Paulo, MPA, APPO of Images by Paulo, received the prestigious top honour of 2009 Photographic Artist of the Year and the Fine Art Class Award and received the People’s Choice Award.

Lisa Scale, LPPO of Bella Photography Inc., received the coveted Tibor Horvath Award and the Child Portrait Class Award (Best Child Portrait in Ontario) and was proudly nominated for 2009 Ontario Portrait & Wedding Photographer of the Year.

“I am incredibly proud to have both of these accomplished photographers not only working in Dufferin-Caledon, but also calling it home,” said Mr. Tilson, while presenting both Jose & Lisa with his congratulatory certificates acknowledging their accomplishments. “They have achieved tremendous success in their craft by consistently demonstrating and pursuing photographic excellence.”

The 126th Annual Image Competition requires photographic members to enter up to four images per year, competing amongst their peers within Ontario in various specialties. The highest honours go the photographer who has the top score of all 4 images, judged by a panel of Master Photographers in a chosen category.

The Photographic Artist of the Year is awarded to the photographer with the highest scoring 4 images in the Fine Art Specialty.

The Tibor Horvath Award is awarded to the LPPO Photographer with the top overall scoring entry.

Both Lisa and Jose are passionate about their craft and members of the Professional Photographers of Ontario and the Professional Photographers of Canada, where each member must be a full-time professional photographer. Through monthly meetings, provincial and national conventions, as well as networking with both trade associates and their fellow professionals, the members are continually honing their craft to bring clients the best that professional imaging has to offer. The mandate of the association is to provide an educational, business and creative environment for professional photographers with the purpose of promoting the highest standard of personal, professional and creative excellence with the craft. The association promotes and maintains a code of conduct and a code of ethics to which its members are expected to comply. The PPO commitment to the excellence of technical knowledge, enhancing professional standards throughout the professional and improving the quality of the profession for persons engaged in the vocation by having its members adhere to the standards of the Association.

These two photographers have been friends for over 20 years having studied photography together. They believe in offering the best of quality, service and style to their clients.
