Bolton, Ontario — David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, attended a BBQ event, in Etobicoke, on August 02, 2011, to recognize the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, for his work in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The event was held at His Worship, Mayor Rob Ford’s (City of Toronto) family residence. Several Members of Parliament from the GTA attended the appreciation evening, as well the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada. Both Prime Minister Harper and Mayor Ford praised Minister Flaherty for his dedicated work in the GTA and for his stewardship of the Canadian economy during the global economic downturn.
“It is because of Minister Flaherty’s outstanding leadership that Canada is in among the strongest fiscal positions of the world’s top performing advanced economies following the global economic recession,” said Mr. Tilson. “He was the architect of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, which created jobs and growth during an extremely difficult time. Now, as we enter the Next Phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan and securing our economic recovery, Canadians can look to the future with renewed optimism thanks in large part to our Finance Minister.”
