PARLIAMENT HILL – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, today praised Honda Canada during Question Period for adding 400 new jobs to its Alliston manufacturing facility.
"Mr. Speaker, as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan, our Government has implemented economic policies designed to increase job growth in the midst of the worst Global recession since the 1930s. Under the leadership of our Prime Minister, our Government has lowered corporate tax rates, encouraged investment and, most importantly, created jobs,” said Mr. Tilson. “With this in mind, can the Minister of Industry please inform us of the wonderful news that we've heard today out of Alliston, Ontario?”
A further sign Canada’s economy is in full recovery and gaining steam, Mr. Tilson noted the announcement by Honda Canada that it is adding 400 new jobs to Plant 2 at its Alliston manufacturing facility is great news for Dufferin-Caledon.
“Many folks in Dufferin-Caledon work at the Honda plant and the addition of 400 new jobs is going to be a big boost for our local economy,” said Mr. Tilson. “The economic spinoff for local businesses that will result from this announcement couldn’t come at a better time.”
