M.P. Tilson supports rural mail motion on Canada Post
October 26, 2021

BOLTON, ON – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, voted in support of a motion that was voted on in the House of Commons on Wednesday, October 25th. The motion asked that the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure, and Communities, “use his power to direct Canada Post to maintain traditional rural mail delivery and protect public safety when rural constituents are required to collect mail at designated group mailbox locations, long distances from their homes.”

The motion was overwhelmingly supported by all four caucuses in the House of Commons, including the Conservative caucus.

Mr. Tilson was available for comment following the vote, “The issue of rural mail delivery has become a very serious concern for both residents of Caledon and across the country. This motion calls upon the Government to take action, to ensure that rural residents receive quality mail service and that Canada Post protects the safety of not only its employees and contracted workers, but also the safety of rural residents. I consider this motion to be a positive step forward in ensuring that door-to-door rural mail delivery continues in Caledon and across Canada.”
