ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced funding for the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival, celebrating local arts and culture in Orangeville.

“I am proud to support the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival, now going into its ninth fantastic year” said Mr. Tilson. “Our Government is pleased, for the first time, to support this wonderful festival, showcasing the best in local, national and international blues and jazz talent. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our rich musical tradition, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage,” said Minister Moore. “Our Government continues to support local Canadian music festivals like the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival across the country.”

“The organizers of the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival are excited and grateful for the support of our MP David Tilson and the Government of Canada,” said festival organizer Larry Kurtz. “This investment in arts and culture has many positive benefits including support for local musicians, increased tourism and economic gains in Orangeville and beyond. The faith shown in our festival will enable its continued success.”

The Government of Canada is making a $24,000 contribution to this year’s Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival under its ongoing commitment to support local arts and music events. The Government is committed to promoting arts and culture  in every region of Canada.
