PARLIAMENT HILL – David Tilson, MP for Dufferin-Caledon, quoted both MADD Canada and the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness when he rose again in the House of Commons to question the ongoing delay in the Senate of the Tackling Violent Crime Act.
“Mr. Speaker, another week has passed,” Mr. Tilson was quoted as saying, “and again I am forced to question why the leader of the Official Opposition allows his Liberal colleagues in the Senate to block passage of a bill offering legal protection for Canadian families?”
The National President of MADD Canada was also quoted today as saying, “We plead with the Senators in the Committee and in the Chamber, don't delay passing Bill C-2."
“As a father, I am deeply concerned about the delay of this long-overdue legislation,” Mr. Tilson said in his Hill office. “Families across Canada will benefit from this bill. I urge the Senate to pass it as quickly as possible.”
Even though the bill passed in the House after just a month of debate, The Liberal-dominated Senate has delayed the legislation for over 2 months.
