Ottawa Journal (March 01 – March 05, 2021)
David Tilson, M.P. (Dufferin-Caledon)
Spring is just around the corner, which means it’s home show time in Dufferin-Caledon. We are most fortunate to have two annual home shows during this time of year covering both parts of the riding, making it easier for all of us to access them. The home shows provide us with an excellent opportunity to see many of our community's businesses and organizations and the many outstanding services and products they offer.
The first home show to kick-off spring in Dufferin-Caledon will be the 13th Annual Orangeville Lions Club Home and Garden Show, which will take place from Friday, March 26th to Sunday, March 28th. It will be held at the Orangeville Agricultural Building and Fairgrounds, in Mono Township (off Highway 10, just north of Orangeville). There will be close to 200 booths this year, to help you tackle your many home and garden projects this spring.
The Orangeville Lions Club Home and Garden Show is sure to continue its tradition of having exciting features, including the Lions Club food booth and “Merv’s Baked Potatoes.” For more information, please visit the Club's website at www.orangevillelions.org. Admission to the show is free and several charitable organizations will be present representing our community.
The second home show in Dufferin-Caledon will take place in April. This is the Caledon Home Show, which is hosted by the Caledon Chamber of Commerce. It will be held from Friday, April 16th to Sunday, April 18th at the Don Sheardown Memorial Arena (Albion Bolton Community Centre), in Bolton. This highly-anticipated event has become a highlight of the spring season, featuring over 80 exhibitors and draws approximately 4,000 to 5,000 visitors from all of Caledon and surrounding areas. Each year, the Chamber hosts various exhibitors offering many local products and services ranging from decking solutions to carpet and duct cleaning.
The Caledon Home Show also includes many other exciting activities throughout the weekend including: a penny raffle, live entertainment, product demonstrations, and a bar-b-que. For more information on this home show, please feel free to contact the Caledon Chamber of Commerce at 905-857-7393 or visit their website at www.caledonchamber.com.
I'm very pleased to be, once again, participating in both home shows by having an exhibitor booth in each. I invite you to come by and learn more about the various Federal Government services available to you and your family, including information on passports, citizenship and immigration, income securities, and much more.
The Orangeville Lions Club Home and Garden Show and the Caledon Home Show are excellent ways to welcome spring. I encourage you and your family to visit these tremendous home shows and see the fantastic range of organizations and businesses we have right here in Dufferin-Caledon. There is truly something for everyone. I look forward to seeing you there!
