Shelburne, Ontario
— David Tilson, MP for Dufferin-Caledon, today announced that Ice River Springs Water Co. Inc. will receive an investment of more than $4,000,000 to develop a Food Grade Plastics Recycling Plant, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).  This investment will facilitate an additional $15,000,000 in private sector investment.

“Residents in our community will benefit from this project, which encourages economic revitalization,” said MP Tilson. “Our investment in the manufacturing sector of Dufferin County will help this region become recognized as a key player in the global economy.”

Sandy Gott, Vice President of Ice River springs said, “As a result of the efforts of David Tilson, MP and the Government of Canada, Shelburne will host a world class recycling facility that will eventually employ over 60 people.”

This new facility once fully operational will supply food grade RPET (Recycled Plastic) to other Ontario food manufacturers for many other packaged products. In short it offers a solution to close the loop for Ontario’s recycling campaign.”

Mayor Ed Crewson extended his thanks to Ice River Springs and the government of Canada, “This project will bring relief and hope back to our community.”

This project will be funded through the Community Adjustment Fund, a two-year, $1-billion national program aimed at addressing the short-term economic needs of communities hit hardest by the global economic recession. The approved project must meet the terms and conditions set out in the contribution agreement.
