Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada
July 16, 2021
Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement today on the death of a Canadian soldier in Afghanistan: "I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Private Sébastien Courcy, who died while conducting operations in the Panjwai District. “Private Courcy served valiantly alongside his comrades to help build a better and brighter future for Afghans. His tragic passing illustrates some of the risks that the selfless men and women of the Canadian Forces face every day in carrying out their duties. “Canada's participation in this mission is a true reflection of Canadian values: helping those in need and defending the interests of those who can't yet defend themselves. Let us never forget Private Courcy, whose self-sacrifice served to make life better for others." |
