PARLIAMENT HILL – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, has been participating in the United States-Canadian Parliamentary Internship Program.  On May 11th Mr. Tilson welcomed Susan Ahmadi of Morehead, Kentucky to his Ottawa office.

Ms. Ahmadi is currently attending Morehead State University.  She is a fourth year student obtaining her undergraduate degree in Spanish with minors in Legal Studies, Research Analysis and Public Policy.

The United States-Canadian Parliamentary Internship Program, sponsored through Transylvania University, provides U.S. students interested in Canadian politics a chance to work in the office of a Member of Parliament and to learn about the Canadian political system.  There are currently thirty-three interns serving in the program from all across the United States.

“I have participated in this program for several years now and it’s been an excellent experience,” Mr. Tilson said.  “Susan has been a great asset to my Ottawa office.  It was a pleasure having Susan in as part of my staff and I hope she has had an enjoyable experience.”

“I cannot begin to describe how thankful I am to Mr. Tilson and his office for allowing me to have this one of a kind experience,” said Ms. Ahmadi.  “On my first day with Mr. Tilson, he invited me to attend a press conference with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk.  I never imagined I would be able to experience such incredible opportunities.  I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Canadian Parliamentary system during my internship.  I will always be grateful for everything Mr. Tilson taught me.”
