Tilson Signs Banner for Canadian Olympic Team

January 28, 2021

OTTAWA, ON – While in Ottawa today, Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson signed a banner on behalf of Dufferin-Caledon residents that will be presented to the Canadian Olympic Committee next month in Sochi, Russia.

“Canada is sending a stellar team to Sochi for the Winter Olympics this year to follow up on our tremendous success coming out of Vancouver in 2010,” said Mr. Tilson. “I hope this banner, signed by MPs from all parties, will provide some extra inspiration for our athletes.”

Dufferin-Caledon residents have some extra reason to cheer during these Olympic Games. Belfountain native Jake Holden is competing for Canada on the men’s snowboard cross team. Jake is sponsored by Kinetico Inc. of Bolton.

“On behalf of Dufferin-Caledon residents, I wish Jake and all our athletes great success in Sochi,” said Mr. Tilson. “I know they will make Canada proud.”

Canada set a record in Vancouver by winning more gold medals than any other country in a single games in Winter Olympic history. Canada’s Own the Podium program, which has been a driving force behind Canada’s continued evolution to a world-leading sport nation, is funded extensively by the Government of Canada, in addition to funding invested by the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee.
