Tilson Reintroduces Bill To Amend Youth Criminal Justice Act
December 14, 2021
OTTAWA – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, rose in the House of Commons today to reintroduce his Private Member’s Bill to amend the Youth Criminal Justice Act.“Reintroducing this bill today is an important part of the debate on an issue which I have been vocal about for many years,” Tilson stated. “I feel that the Youth Criminal Justice Act has many deficiencies, and I hope that my bill will provoke changes that will get tougher on criminals and make our families and communities safer.”
Tilson’s bill relates to the publication of information about young offenders charged as adults, but also seeks to more broadly spur debate about the effectiveness of current youth justice legislation.
