Tilson Meets With Westside Student

November 07, 2021

PARLIAMENT HILL – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferon-Caledon, met today with Mr. Cameron Shimes, a student at Westside Secondary School, during Mr. Shimes visit to Ottawa.

Mr. Shimes was participating in a joint program offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. Known as YOUth in Ottawa – Job Shadowing Day on Parliament Hill, the program pairs young men and women with a Member of Parliament for the day so the young person can follow the Member as he or she goes about their regular routine on the Hill.

“As a long-time supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, I was pleased that Cameron had the opportunity to participate in this exciting program,” said Mr. Tilson. “It’s a tremendous opportunity for young people to learn more about what their elected representatives do in Ottawa. It’s a great education that I know will serve them well.”

Cameron is the first student from Dufferin-Caledon to take part in this important program.
