Tilson calls for Dufferin residents to be included in wind turbine health study
ORANGEVILLE – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, today sent a letter to Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq calling for Dufferin residents to be included in Health Canada’s scientific study into adverse health effects on nearby residents.
“Dufferin County is home to the second highest number of industrial wind turbines in Ontario,” said Mr. Tilson. “Residents have been experiencing adverse health effects here for years now so they are ideally suited to provide insight to Health Canada’s scientists.”
In addition to asking that Dufferin residents be included, Mr. Tilson also asked that the study look at the health effects of the transformer equipment associated with the turbine installations.
“I have met with many Dufferin residents who have described very significant negative health impacts of these turbines,” said Mr. Tilson. “Having visited a number of residents’ properties to see the situation first hand, I’m urging the Minister to make certain Dufferin residents experiences are taken into account.”
