BOLTON, Ontario – Seniors in Dufferin-Caledon have received financial support for equipment and upgrades, today announced by David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon

Palgrave Community Kitchen has received $25,000 for its “Food for Thought” project from the New Horizons for Seniors Program.

The New Horizons for Seniors Program support has assisted the Palgrave Community Kitchen to upgrade their kitchen facilities and purchase a freezer, to enable seniors to participate in workshops and events that encourage healthy living with a focus on food and nutrition.

“Our Government recognizes the diversity of skills, knowledge, and experience that seniors contribute to our society and the economy,” said Mr. Tilson. “The New Horizons for Seniors Program supports projects led or inspired by seniors who make a difference in the lives of others and their communities and this project, led by the Palgrave Community Kitchen, will surely meet this objective.”

“This support from the New Horizons for Seniors Program has allowed us to improve our facility and fully engage senior community members in volunteerism, social activity, and health and wellness programs,” said Amy Darrell, Program Co-ordinator for the Palgrave Community Kitchen. “The contributions made by our senior volunteers and participants are so valuable to the greater well-being of our community.”
