ORANGEVILLE – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, today welcomed David Nairn, Artistic Director for Theatre Orangeville, as he made a well-received presentation to the House of Commons All-Party Arts Caucus.

The All-Party Arts Caucus, a group of Members of Parliament intent on promoting the arts in their communities and across the country, is made up of MPs from all four parties in the House of Commons.  They meet regularly with both national arts organizations and local arts promoters like Mr. Nairn.

“David gave a wonderful presentation this afternoon. He reinforced just how connected Theatre Orangeville is with our whole community,” said Mr. Tilson “My colleagues were clearly overwhelmed by the number of initiatives Theatre Orangeville is involved in. From youth performance and mentoring programs to their partnership with Community Living Dufferin, the MPs were very impressed.”

Mr. Nairn outlined a broad range of Theatre Orangeville’s programs, beginning with the topic of the day, Youth and the Arts: Reaching Out and Getting Started. He highlighted their performance and audience programs, youth mentoring youth and the wonderful future Theatre Orangeville youth alumni have in the professional performing arts. He also spoke about Theatre Orangeville’s amazing outreach to the community, including their programs on youth-at-risk, elder abuse and their partnership with Community Living Dufferin, including their new joint Building Dreams facility, partially funded through the Federal Community Assistance Fund, which opened just last fall.
