Orangeville, ON
- David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, was on hand at Mochaberry Cafe to thank Pat Elmore and her team of volunteers who ran another successful Community Volunteer Income Tax Program at the Orangeville Senior Centre this past April.

Established by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in 1971, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) offers services to individuals, who are unable to complete their own income tax return and cannot afford to pay for assistance. The CVITP’s team of trained volunteers helped Dufferin and Area residents with their taxes, if their income was too low and if their tax situation was fairly simple.

Free tax preparation was available in Orangeville every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in March and April at the Orangeville and District Senior Citizens Centre. This year, the program was able to assist over 600 local residents with their income taxes.

While thanking the volunteer team, Mr. Tilson reiterated the importance of the program, “Every year this program brings great relief to residents who lack the financial capacity to file their income taxes.” Mr. Tilson went on to personally thank Pat Elmore and the program’s volunteers, “Orangeville is truly lucky to have such a great group of volunteers provide assistance to the citizens of this community. A special thank you to Pat Elmore, Program Coordinator, who has for several years dedicated her time and effort to make sure this service is offered.”

2012 Volunteers: Pat Elmore, Jennifer McCallum, Evelyn Rutledge, Fran Davenport, Doreen Hyde-Whipp, Leandra Busch, Cathy Mould, Barbara Speers and Pat Cox.
