ORANGEVILLE, ON – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, today highlighted more than $21 million in federal gas tax funding to Dufferin County and its municipalities since 2005.

“Dufferin County and its municipalities have benefited greatly from the federal government’s decision to transfer gas tax funds to local municipalities for infrastructure,” said Mr. Tilson. “Over $21 million has flowed into the County and its municipalities since 2005.”

The funding breakdown is as follows: Dufferin County $10.825 million; Orangeville $5.354 million; Shelburne $966,000; Mono $1.430 million; Amaranth $778,000; East Garafraxa $474,000; Melancthon $582,000; Mulmur $659,000 and Grand Valley $580,000.

“Now that the Gas Tax Fund is permanent, municipalities in Dufferin have a long-term, stable and predictable source of funding to help plan and execute important infrastructure projects,” said Mr. Tilson. “Through this Fund, our communities are getting the help they need to keep their roads, bridges and other infrastructure safe and up to date.”
