ORANGEVILE, ON –
David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, joined Mayor Rob Adams and the Town of Orangeville council and staff, to announce  $40,000 in funding to the Town of Orangeville for the town’s 150th birthday celebrations.

“I am pleased to announce this funding to the Town of Orangeville,” said Mr. Tilson. “I am always impressed by the community spirit shown during Orangeville events. The excitement surrounding this year’s 150th celebrations along with the many plans being made are sure to result in a number of most memorable events.”

The Town of Orangeville will receive $40,000 from the Building Communities Through Arts & Heritage program. Funding will help contribute to the year long celebrations commemorating Orangeville’s 150th Birthday.

“As Chairman of Orangeville’s 150th Birthday Steering Committee, I am delighted by today’s announcement,” said Mayor Rob Adams. “I would like to thank David Tilson and the Federal Government for their support of Orangeville’s Sesquicentennial. This year will be an amazing opportunity to celebrate our town’s founding, rich history, and incredible community spirit. My committee is actively planning a number of events and we are excited about the plans and we will soon be releasing details about that day-long July 6th Birthday Bash.”

The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
