M.P. David Tilson reflects on government’s four-year anniversary
January 26, 2021
Bolton, ON – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, was available for comment on January 23, 2010, which marked the 4th anniversary of the election of the current Federal Government. “It has been four years since Canadians chose change,” said Mr. Tilson. “During this time we have delivered real and measurable results, which have been felt, here in Dufferin-Caledon, and all over Canada. I’m proud to be part of a Government which has lowered taxes for ordinary, hard-working Canadians; has given choice in child care back to parents; and has created jobs and opportunities for Canadians in the face of a difficult global recession.” In four years, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Government have delivered on their promises to Canadians by: introducing and passing the Federal Accountability Act; by making Tax Freedom Day 18 days earlier than it was before; introducing the Universal Child Care Benefit; tackled crime by passing several bills addressing gun, gang, and drug crime; expanded international trade; asserted sovereignty in the Arctic; strengthened Canada’s Armed Forces; and have worked towards developing a clean energy economy. When asked where he sees the Government focusing its attention in the coming months, Mr. Tilson responded, “Our Government will remain focused on ensuring Canada’s economy makes a full, long-term recovery from the global recession. Furthermore, we will also remain committed to doing everything we can to help Haiti in its efforts to rebuild.” |
