PARLIAMENT HILL – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, has been participating in the United States-Canadian Parliamentary Internship. Mr. Tilson welcomed Sarah Stroman from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania on May 16th, to his Ottawa office.
Ms. Stroman is currently studying at Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania. She is a fourth year student, who is obtaining her undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in International Relations. She participates in her University’s ultimate frisbee club and political research office when not working part-time and studying.
Ms. Stroman will be learning about Canadian politics, procedures of the office, and procedures of the House. She will also be learning more about Canadian history and culture. Ms. Stroman assists Mr. Tilson with news releases, columns, correspondence and other materials.
“I thoroughly love being in Canada,” said Ms. Stroman. “Everything is beautiful and rich with history and culture. It is wonderful to be welcomed by so many people who are willing to share their Country’s heritage. Working with Mr. Tilson’s office is rewarding and fulfilling every day. I love seeing Canada’s political system up close and personal while also comparing it to the United States’ system. I know that this experience will stay engraved in my mind and I cannot wait to share my experiences with everyone I know back home.”
Mr. Tilson commented, “I have had the pleasure of welcoming U.S. interns to my office for several years now. Sarah's contributions have been stellar. Working with myself and my staff, she has shared her unique perspective on bilateral issues and hopefully learned something of how our system works from the inside. Sarah has been a pleasure to have with us and I hope my staff and I have given her a great Canadian experience she can share when she returns home. Her intelligence, enthusiasm, and work ethic certainly promise great things for her future."
Ms. Stroman will complete her internship on June 15th and will go back to Pennsylvania on June 16th.
