ORANGEVILLE, ON: David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, gathered with the members of the Volunteer Income Tax team to thank them for another successful tax year this past Friday at the Mochaberry coffee shop.

Established by the Canada Revenue Agency in 1971, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) offers services to individuals, who are unable to complete their own income tax and benefit return and cannot afford to pay for assistance. The CVITP’s team of trained volunteers can help these individuals with their taxes, if their income is too low and their tax situation is not overly complicated.

While addressing the volunteer team, Mr. Tilson emphasized the significance of the program, which “relieves the financial and personal stress of filing taxes for those without the financial capacity to afford professional help”. Tilson went on to praise the volunteers, stating “Dufferin-Caledon is truly blessed to have such talented individuals ready to donate their time and expertise to helping others. I cannot thank you enough for your efforts”.
