BOLTON – David Tilson, the Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, addressed several agricultural organizations (including Ontario Sheep, the Ontario Veal Association, Ontario Pork, and Ontario Pork Producers) at the launch of Homegrown Ontario, in Toronto, on June 27th.
Mr. Tilson addressed the group on behalf of the Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. During his speech, Mr. Tilson highlighted the Federal Government’s accomplishments in agriculture since forming Government in 2006 including: a commitment of $4.5 billion in new money to support the industry over five years, investments in renewable fuels, and working with other governments and the industry to place the entire sector in on a stronger, more competitive and more profitable footing for the long term.
Following his speech, Mr. Tilson made the following comment, “As an M.P. from a largely agricultural riding, I know firsthand, the immense value and importance of the agricultural industry to not only Ontario, but to all of Canada. Our Government recognizes this too and will continue to work hard for Canadian producers and processors.” Mr. Tilson went on to say, “Agriculture drives our national economy and nurtures the health wellbeing of all Canadians.”
