ORANGEVILLE – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, hosted his annual Open House at his Orangeville constituency office on Broadway on January 6, 2011.
More than fifty local residents came out to celebrate the New Year with old friends and new. Mr. Tilson used this opportunity to catch up with constituents on the issues that those from Orangeville and surrounding areas were discussing over the holidays and what residents were expecting to see in the coming year.
“I was pleased at the turnout this year,” said Mr. Tilson. “Coming fresh off the New Year, it’s an important event as people have just spent significant time with family and friends and their concerns for 2011 are top of mind.”
Mr. Tilson noted that the government is preparing for the next Budget, expected sometime in the next couple of months, and that the input he receives from this event is important to that process.
“This was a nice bookend to this year’s holiday season,” remarked Mr. Tilson. “My Bolton Open House was in mid-December so the Orangeville event coming early in the New Year gives me a good perspective on how constituents are feeling about the coming year. Knowing the most current concerns in the riding is very important when I talk to my colleagues in Ottawa.”
