Caledon, ON - David Tilson, MP for Dufferin-Caledon attended the opening of the 150th annual Caledon Fair. Tilson joined organizers, exhibitors, and onlookers in the opening parade.
Mr. Tilson spoke in the House of Commons last week to congratulate the Caledon Agricultural Society on the Caledon Fair’s anniversary. He stated, “Since the fair first began in 1860, it has honoured agricultural excellence and represents all that is rural Canada.”
In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the fair, Mr. Tilson and other dignitaries in attendance dressed in historical garb, which would have been worn in 1860, at the time of the first Caledon Fair. Queen Victoria even showed up for this special event.
Despite the less than desirable weather of the weekend, attendees thoroughly enjoyed all the fair had to offer, including agricultural and home craft exhibits, the midway, and truck and tractor pulls.
“The Caledon Fair is a time honoured tradition cherished by residents of Caledon and surrounding areas. I am pleased to help celebrate the fair’s 150th anniversary, and I am sure we will continue to enjoy this tradition in Caledon for many years to come”, said Tilson.
