M.P. Tilson and M.P.P. Jeffrey announce Canada – Ontario Partnership to creates jobs, stimulate economy in Dufferin-Caledon).

– Residents of Dufferin County will benefit from federal and provincial infrastructure funding, to expand and renovate the County’s property at 51 Zina Street, in Orangeville. The announcement was made today by David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, along with Linda Jeffrey, Member of Provincial Parliament for Brampton-Springdale and Warden Gordon Montgomery.

The governments of Canada and Ontario will each invest up to $2.7 million in the project, which will see an addition constructed to house POA courts and administration, a sally-port, as well as provide additional county administration space.
 
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, our Government is getting shovels in the ground and flowing money faster to stimulate the economy and create jobs for Ontarians,” said Mr. Tilson. “Thanks to a strong working relationship between all three levels of government, we can work together to help communities and the economy thrive immediately and in the future.”

“This is great news for the County of Dufferin,” said Mr. Montgomery. “Thanks to this funding, the County will be able to improve police and prisoner safety and construct some much needed new space. This construction will also provide a big boost to the local economy.”

Lorie Haddock, Chair of General Government Services, commented, “I am delighted that this funding has been made available to the County of Dufferin. The ongoing support of both our federal and provincial representatives has played an integral part in making this project a reality.”

The Governments of Canada and Ontario are investing close to $11 billion in joint funding for more than 2,600 projects through such programs as the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, Building Canada Fund - Communities Component and Major Infrastructure Component, Knowledge Infrastructure Program and RINC/Ontario REC. These historical investments will help support job creation and strengthen Ontario's economy.
