October 24, 2008

BOLTON, ON – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, together with the Caledon Seniors’ Council, hosted a Seniors Information Expo, on Friday, October 24th, at St. James Anglican Church, in Caledon East.

A number of local residents and Seniors’ Council members came out to the Expo, to take in the many presentations on a wide range of topics related to seniors including: Home Safety and Security, Computer and Internet Use, Tax Information, and the Senior Driver. Special guest speakers included representatives from local and governmental organizations: Karealot Health Services Inc., FileBank, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and Canadian PROdrivers.

Mr. Tilson acted as the Master of Ceremonies for the Expo and thanked the Caledon Seniors’ Council for, “working with my office to ensure that today was a success and that the topics covered were relevant to our community’s seniors.”

Following the presentations, Mr. Tilson was asked to comment on the expansion of his Senior Information Expo Program into Caledon East, “I was approached by the Seniors’ Council about bringing this program to Caledon East, as many seniors from this area of Caledon have difficulty traveling to Bolton, where I’ve been hosting the program annually. It was a terrific idea, as I believe it is important to make information like this accessible to as much of the senior community as possible and I look forward to the Bolton Expo on November 28th.”

Rogers Television was also present at the Expo and filmed segments of the presentations, to be aired at a later date as a public service.
