PARIS, FRANCE – David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon led a Canadian delegation at the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) meetings in Paris.

Some of the following topics were discussed: the economic outlook, financial market turbulence, rising food prices, the economics of climate change, trade and development.

The OECD, of which Canada is a member, has 30 market democracies working together to address the economic, social and governance challenges of globalization. The thirty members produce almost 60% of the world’s goods and services.

“I am extremely proud to be leading this Canadian delegation,” said Tilson. “Canada’s economic performance has been among the best in the OECD.”

The OECD reported that the Canadian economy has adapted well to recent shocks as labour and capital have shifted rapidly from manufacturing towards the resource and service sectors, with strong net job increases.
