David Tilson Sworn In As M.P. For Dufferin-caledon

OTTAWA, ON – David Tilson was officially sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon on Friday, November 07, 2008, during a ceremony held at the House of Commons, in Ottawa. Mr. Tilson was sworn in by the Deputy Clerk of the House of Commons with his family looking on.

Mr. Tilson was re-elected on October 14, 2008, following a campaign that lasted 37 days. He has been the Member of Parliament since 2004 and he served as Vice Chair on the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy, and Ethics. In the last session of Parliament, he was also a member of the Standing Committee on Health. Before entering Federal politics, Mr. Tilson had served as the Provincial Member of Parliament for the area and served as a Councillor for the Town of Orangeville.

Following the solemn ceremony, Mr. Tilson stated that, “I’m very proud and honoured to once again, be representing Dufferin-Caledon in Ottawa. Today’s ceremony is especially significant for me with Remembrance Day upon us. If it wasn’t for the courage and sacrifice of so many brave Canadian men and women, this ceremony and what it represents wouldn’t be possible.” Mr. Tilson went on to say, “We owe a debt of gratitude to those Canadians for protecting the rights and freedoms we enjoy.”
