David Tilson MP congratulates Larry Kurtz on Blues & Jazz Festival funding

ORANGEVILE, ON –
David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, participated in the Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival line-up announcement today, at the Mill Creek Pub. Along with celebrating this year’s fantastic line-up of entertainers, David was excited to announce federal funding to Larry Kurtz, founder of the Festival.

“I am pleased to announce this funding to the Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival,” said Mr. Tilson. “To hear the line-up of outstanding talent scheduled to perform this year, it is easy to understand why this event has grown to be the local highlight of the summer. I am proud that this funding to the Festival is helping to strengthen our local arts and culture.”

The Blues & Jazz Festival will receive $25,500 through the Building Communities Through Arts & Heritage program. Funding will help contribute to the four-day festival’s spectacular musical line-up of over 80 acts, the many activities planned including acoustic workshops, and the coordination of the 165 volunteers; all of which will attract over 30,000 to the area.

“Thank you very much for supporting Canadian artists,” said Mr. Kurtz. “This generous funding is creating great opportunities to showcase our talented local musicians to a large appreciative audience.”

The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
