ORANGEVILLE ON, Mr. David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin–Caledon, met with the organizers and volunteers of Farm Credit Canada, to participate in the tractor tour which they circulated to rural schools in the area in order collect food donations for the Drive Away Hunger campaign.
Since 2004, Farm Credit Canada (FCC) has collected more than 3.5 million pounds of food for food banks across Canada through its Drive Away Hunger Program. This unique program aims to reduce hunger in rural Canada by partnering with agricultural industries, rural residents, students, local businesses, and community groups to fundraise, donate, collect, and distribute food to food banks.
This year’s Drive Away Hunger tractor tour began at Grand Valley and District School and from there traveled to Laurelwoods Elementary School, Centennial Hylands High School and Centre Dufferin High School, in Shelburne, and finally to Primrose Elementary School.
Mr. Tilson congratulated principals, organizers, and students at the participating schools, “Everyone has gone to such a tremendous effort to contribute to this food drive. The response is overwhelming. My compliments go out to all of the participants whose efforts will make a difference in the fight against hunger in Canada.”
David’s Orangeville constituency office located at 229 Broadway (Unit 2) will be a donation drop-off location. You can help the FCC in its efforts by dropping by David’s office to pick up your food collection bags and then drop them off there as well.
