Isobarex Corp. Receives IRAP Funding

Bolton, ON - David Tilson, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (FedDev Ontario), today announced a contribution of more than $67,800 to Bolton-based Isobarex Corporation’s local project, funded through the National Research Council (NRC) Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP).

“Our Government is investing in science and technology to create good jobs, strengthen the economy and improve Canadians’ quality of life,” said Mr. Tilson. “This Government is supporting Canadian firms that successfully develop innovative technologies. Canada’s Economic Action Plan is supporting scientific research and commercialization, while creating good jobs and economic growth.”

Funding comes from a $90 million investment over two years from FedDev Ontario in IRAP, to support job creation for R&D-intensive small- and medium-sized businesses across southern Ontario.

Isobarex is a high technology start-up developing advanced solutions for the analysis of long-lived radiotracers. Isobarex’s technologies are already improving the determination of some key long-lived radiotracers used in geological, environmental and biomedical research.

“This financial contribution from IRAP will be critical to develop new applications for our lead product, the Isobar Separator for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry. In collaboration with our partners at University of Toronto and with the Ionics Mass Spectrometry Group in Bolton, we will be able to expand the range of application of the Isobar Separator and therefore make this product more attractive on export markets,” said Jean-Francois Alary, president of Isobarex.

The Industrial Research Assistance Program provides a range of both technical and business-oriented advisory services along with necessary financial support to qualified innovative Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises.

The program is delivered by a field staff of 240 professionals in more than 100 communities across Canada. The National Research Council is committed to working with small and medium-sized enterprises while they realize their full potential, turning knowledge and innovation into strategic opportunities, jobs and prosperity for all Canadians.
