Bolton, Ontario – David Tilson, Member of Parliament (Dufferin-Caledon), today announced an investment of $81,101, on behalf of the Government of Canada, in Fenn Publishing Company Ltd., under the Aid to Publishers component of the Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP).

“We are very proud to have such a highly regarded Canadian publisher in Dufferin-Caledon that continues to promote Canadian authors who represent a distinctive Canadian voice,” said Mr. Tilson. “On behalf of our Government and the residents of my riding, I would like to sincerely congratulate the Fenn Publishing Company on receiving this funding and for meeting the demand for more topics of interest to Canadians.”

Created in 1977, Fenn Publishing Company primarily produces sports books and children’s books with a particular focus on books about hockey.

“We acknowledge and appreciate the support from the Government of Canada,” said Sylvia Fenn, President of Fenn Publishing. “The assistance provided helps us immensely with the production and marketing of our books, reaching more Canadian readers with Canadian-authored books year after year.”

The Book Publishing Industry Development Program supports the ongoing production and promotion of Canadian-authored books through financial assistance to Canadian-owned and –controlled publishers. As part of its renewal, this program has been streamlined and renamed the Canada Book Fund to reflect the evolution of its role from being the supporter of a developing industry to reinforcing a mature industry that brings Canadian books to readers everywhere. Next year’s contributions will be provided through the Canada Book Fund.
