CANADIAN PARLIAMENTARY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
May 18, 2006

PARLIAMENT HILL – David Tilson, the Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, is participating in the United States – Canadian Parliamentary Internship Program.  Stefanie Caudill, who attends Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky, is currently working as an intern in Mr. Tilson’s office.

Some of the tasks Stefanie will be performing are answering constituency mail; writing and editing materials to be sent to Mr. Tilson’s riding; researching issues of importance to Mr. Tilson; writing statement and question for Question Period; writing speeches; taking constituents on tours of Parliament; digesting newspapers and magazines; and general office work.

There are approximately 38 interns working with Members of Parliament.  These interns are from several different states and universities throughout the United States.  This internship program allows these students to learn more about the Canadian government and the country.  The internship is for five (5) weeks and during this time the interns will have opportunities to learn about the Parliamentary process and to tour the country.

“I have participated in the United States – Canadian Internship Program for two years now and I really enjoy the program.  Stefanie is a delight to work with and she is eager to learn more about the Parliamentary process,” Tilson said.
