Seniors Expos Coming Soon to Dufferin-Caledon
It's important for seniors to have access to helpful and relevant information to stay engaged, healthy, and active in their communities. Since becoming Member of Parliament in 2004, it's always been a priority of mine that the voices and needs of the local senior community of Dufferin-Caledon always be heard and effectively addressed. One way I've done this is by hosting Senior Information Expos throughout the riding. This spring, I'm pleased to be hosting two expos with two local seniors groups in each half of the riding - one in Shelburne and one in Caledon East. Be sure to mark your calendar and join us!
The first Seniors Information Expo that I'll be co-hosting this spring is with the New Horizon’s Seniors Club in Shelburne on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Mel Lloyd Centre (New Horizons Lounge/Door F), located at 167 Centre Street, Shelburne. It will be a full agenda with a wide range of interesting topics and excellent speakers. The topics to be covered at this event will include: “How to Safely Incorporate Exercise into your Daily Routine,” presented by Hannah Sine from Towne Fitness; “Demystifying Retirement Residences,” presented by Megan Maydanski from Montgomery Village Retirement Residence; “The Importance of Remaining Active and Fall Prevention,” presented by Dr. Richard Magder from Shelburne Family Chiropractic; and “Stories of Some Remarkable Dufferin County Seniors,” presented by local historian and storyteller, Wayne Townsend. Each of the presentations will be followed by a question and answer session where attendees may raise questions and concerns with the respective speakers.
