M.P. TILSON HAPPY WITH G.S.T. MONEY FOR UPPER GRAND DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
March 23, 2021
OTTAWA – On Monday, March 19, 2007, the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, committed $473, 437.21 to the Upper Grand District School Board, under Budget 2007.
This long-overdue money comes from filed G.S.T. transportation claims from school boards, including the Upper Grand District School Board, in Ontario, which were retroactively denied by the previous government. A total of 19 Ontario school boards had filed G.S.T. reimbursement claims and will now finally be given this money under Budget 2007. When asked for comment on this inclusion in Budget 2007, Mr. Tilson made the following comment, “I’m extremely pleased that our Government has delivered to the Upper Grand District School Board, what the former Liberal government did not. It has been a long battle for this particular school board and for boards all across Ontario, and has now resulted in a fair and just outcome that ultimately benefits students.” |
