The Fall Fair Season is Upon Us
August 24, 2009
Ottawa Journal for the Week of August 24 – August 28, 2009 The summer has flown by and our holidays are coming to an end and the kids are preparing to return to school. Although we’re sad to see the end of summer, fall signals the beginning of some very exciting events, such as fall fairs. Fall fairs are a terrific way to witness and partake in community spirit. Here in Dufferin-Caledon, we are most fortunate, as we have several fall fairs to take in over several weeks. The Orangeville Agricultural Society will be hosting its 156th Annual Fall Fair at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. The fair will open on September 4th and will wrap up on September 7th. This year’s fair will include: trade shows, corporate exhibitions, new product launches, pet and livestock shows, as well as antique car shows. For more information on this fair, please call 519-942-9597. The next two fairs to mark on your calendar are the 143rd Annual Shelburne Fall Fair and the 156th annual Brampton Fall Fair. The Shelburne Fall Fair will begin on September 18th and will continue until September 20th. This fair is presented by the Shelburne & District Agricultural Society and is always full of exciting attractions including: livestock exhibitions, home crafts, a dog show, lawn tractor races, a demolition derby, a car show, and much more. For more information on this fair, please call 519-925-0243. The Brampton Fall Fair begins on September 17th and runs through to September 20th. It is hosted by the Region of Peel Agricultural Society and promises great family fun. There is something for everyone at this fair, including: displays of homemade jams, pies, as well as homemade quilts and crafts; cattle shows; horse pulls; a large midway; a demolition derby; and a FMX stunt show. The weekend of September 25th boasts two fall fairs as well - the Grand Valley Fall Fair and the Bolton Fall Fair. Highlights include: an ambassador competition, Ag Awareness, 4H dairy show, home craft exhibits, a heavy horse show, a tractor and truck pull, a frog jumping contest, a parade, as well as many other events.
