Week of June 26 – June 30, 2021

I would like to use this week's journal to highlight some of the many terrific events that will be taking place throughout Dufferin-Caledon this July. School will be out for the year shortly and I'm sure families will be looking for things to do. Fortunately, families do not have to travel far to find excellent entertainment and community spirit.

Canada Day is quickly approaching and presents an excellent opportunity for children and adults alike, to learn more about Canadian culture, history, and diversity. One of the many events to celebrate this special day is the Strawberry Festival, hosted by the Caledon Horticultural Society. The celebration will include all day entertainment, a food booth, petting zoo, and crafts, to name a few. For more information on this event please visit: www.caledonfairgrounds.ca.

Downey's Farm Market and Winery will be hosting a Strawberry Festival on Canada Day. The day will include live entertainment, games, juggling, and much more. For more information, please visit www.downeysfarm.on.ca. More family fun and entertainment can be found at the annual Caledon Canada Day Celebrations at the Albion Hills Conservation Area and Campground. The entertainment for the day will include music, magicians, clowns, swimming, paddle boats, as well as a fireworks finale. For more information on the celebrations, please visit www.trcaparks.ca.

The Town of Orangeville will also be hosting its Canada Day celebration at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. This annual event is hosted by the Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands. Local talent will be featured, which will lead to a spectacular fireworks display. For more information, please visit www.orangeville.org. The Town of Shelburne will also be celebrating Canada Day by hosting a family barbeque and fireworks. The event will also include live entertainment, children's activities, and a pancake breakfast. For more information on this event, please visit: www.townofshelburne.on.ca.

Following Canada Day, the Orangeville BIA will be holding its Founders' Day Streetfest. The festival will take place July 8th and 9th, in Orangeville. The attractions usually include buskers, art and craft kiosks, sidewalk sales, food, and much more. If you would like more information on this particular event, please visit: www.orangevillebia.org.

The community of Cheltenham invites you to join them for their annual Cheltenham Day, which will take place on Saturday July 8th, 2006. This year's celebration coincides with the grand re-opening of the Cheltenham community hall, fire station, and community well. The day is an all day celebration of the community and surrounding area. The festivities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a community dinner and dance, a Soap Box Derby, children's activities, parade, duck race, crafter demonstrations and sale, as well as an inner tube race. For more information on this event, please contact: Rod Perry, Chair, Cheltenham Day.
I sincerely hope that you and your family will come out and support these local events. Each one has something exciting to offer families and encourages community spirit. It is my hope to participate in as many of these events as I can and look forward to meeting you and your family.
